The German Federal Environment Agency (abbr. UBA) has been, since its founding in 1974, Germany’s main environmental protection agency. Its task is to ensure that german citizens have a healthy environment where they are protected against air, water and other pollutants. Hence, the UBA is concerned with an extremely broad spectrum of issues, including waste avoidance, climate protection, and pesticide approvals.

Oeko-Institut, founded in 1977, is a leading European research and consultancy institute working for a sustainable future. The institute develops principles and strategies for realizing the vision of sustainable development on a gloval, national, and local scale.
